Soul Asylum

Soul Asylum
Double Door
Chicago, IL

Worth the drive?
Of course, it's Soul Asylum.
"Closer To The Stars", "Veil Of Tears", and "Cartoon"...it doesn't get much better than that.
Definitely the best of the 3 Soul Asylum shows I've seen this year.

Will I ever learn that I can't really get decent photos of Dan if I'm always standing directly in front of him?
Probably not.

Quote of the evening?
There were so many and I didn't write anything down, but I'd have to say the funniest was when Dan introduced the band.
After introducing Michael Bland on drums and the bass player (whose name I didn't catch), Dan pointed in Dave's direction and said "and Evan Dando".
Hilarious.

Reason to go back to the Double Door next month?
Evan Dando will be there; The Lemonheads are playing December 7th & 8th.

Where to have dinner before a Double Door show?
Swank Frank.
The Jerk Chicken Sandwich was delicious.

The Pernice Brothers / Elvis Perkins

The Pernice Brothers

Elvis Perkins

High Noon Saloon

Kiki's review and photos.

Worth leaving the warmth of home?
Most definitely, it was my first time seeing The Pernice Brothers and they were fantastic.
Plus I got to hear my favorite song of theirs, "Baby In Two".

Reason I wish Heather had been there?
Elvis Perkins was the opener.

Reason I'm really glad Liz was there?
Elvis Perkins was the opener.
